Popular Anaheim, CA Neighborhoods

As the home to The Happiest Place on Earth, Disneyland, the city of Anaheim has its fair share of daily visitors from around the world and as one of the largest and oldest cities in the Southern California County of Orange, it has a long history and an extremely diverse array of neighborhoods and communities. Assessments of various life factors and quality indexes reveal just how much variation exists in the city of Anaheim and these differences are quite dramatic from suburb to suburb. In general though, some of the nicest parts of Anaheim are found in the southeast and southwest part of Anaheim and especially in the adjoining city of Anaheim Hills.

Anaheim Hills

With gorgeous sunny weather and warm temperatures almost year round as well as a host of entertainment and nightlife venues, plenty of restaurants and of course, lots of family activities to enjoy, Anaheim Hills is a vibrant and exciting city to live in. In addition, it offers some of the nicest schools, the lowest crime rates and the highest home market values in all of Anaheim. With large, sprawling residential properties, it is easy to see why it is one of the most popular and ideal areas in the Orange County region. Along with these prime living conditions, comes the considerably high costs of living, some of the highest costs of living in the state. This neighborhood is quite spread out and many homes are large and spacious. It is an area that is clean, well maintained by the city, and much safer than many other neighborhoods of other nearby cities. Anaheim Hills is home to people who have a significantly higher annual income and a great choice for the many successful and wealthy residents who retire there.

Southeast

In contrast to the opulence of Anaheim Hills, the southeast region of Anaheim is markedly different from its neighbor. Besides having a higher crime rate, as a whole, this part of Anaheim is much more densely populated and therefore a little more crowded. The demographics for southeast Anaheim are similar to that of Anaheim Hills with 73% of the population being Caucasian, around 10% Asian, and only 2% African American. Statistics also show that in southeast Anaheim the household size is usually larger than the average and also consists of many younger households. Southeast Anaheim does offer access to numerous parks and also several elementary schools and high schools close by so it is a good option for young families. Naturally, this part of Anaheim still affords plenty of entertainment options and residents enjoy the perennial sunshine found in most of Southern California.

Southwest

On the opposing side of the city, the southwest neighborhood of Anaheim sits with many similarities to the southeast side. This neighborhood is one of the most densely populated which may account for its even higher crime rate and possibly also the higher number of younger people in comparison to the rest of the city. The demographics are also considerably more racially diverse: only 56% of the population is Caucasian, almost 3% are African American and almost 21% are Asian. The homes are typically a little older and there are many apartment complexes and other rental units. In fact this neighborhood has fewer homeowners with the majority of the residents living in rental housing. In all, the city of Anaheim with its varied socio-economic classes and neighborhoods which can differ from each other like night and day, presents an attractive and reasonably priced city to reside in. The fact that each of these neighborhoods is within a ten mile radius to the home of Mickey and Minnie probably doesn't hurt its reputation either.
