Dirty, Drug-filled, Uneducated, Corrupt 0.5 rating By AylaG ( Aug 27, 2017) The title describes my observations for the past 13 years that I've been a resident of Bernalillo. In the years that I've lived here, businesses have increased, the population has increased, but access to 550 for residents has worsened. 550 access is set up in such a way that a p ...Read More asser-through gets out of town quicker than a resident living on either side of 550, waiting in huge lines to get to the stoplights for 15 minutes. There is no pride of ownership in any of the properties which are largely trashed out semi-home, semi-trash (see shack at the 4-way stop heading to Sawmill rd for just one of the MANY examples). Landlords use and abuse their tenants who are either illegal immigrants being exploited and overcharged (Bonifacio Sanchez is the worst perverted abuser and the owner of the trailer park on Boni Lane). The students at the schools are passed and graduated, whether they know anything or not and yet do not continue onto college. After school you will find children of all ages, roaming unsupervised in the park and in all of the streets and often until late at night. I understand that poverty is an epidemic, however, I ask-what has been done to improve this? From my observations, this town has only worsened. You will find that most of the people working for this town are probably related somehow and are also crude, uneducated and unprofessional, so if they set the tone and culture of the community, then this town is doomed. Recently, there has also been a new population of gang members roaming around on foot and bicycles near new housing community (there was a stabbing there last year-the first year it was opened), Rotary Park and the old Sawmill area. I've found syringes in the streets and parks and this is nothing new or surprising here. I do not recommend this town to families wishing quality education, neighbors or community. I really, truly wish that I could stay living in this community because I do love my house, but I have to think of how and where I want my children to end up. I honestly hope that someday, somehow this town that is located in an area that is so convenient to get to Santa Fe, Albuquerque, or Rio Rancho will improve their roads so this access isn't so tedious to its residents and that the town will work harder to improve for the future generation.
