We moved here to Chapel Hill from CA just about a year ago. We were looking to live out in the country with a few acres, away from the quickly growing and booming towns of Franklin and Spring Hill. Traffic is pretty bad up there. We are retired, but if we needed to commute to wor ...Read More
k, I know it would be a frustration for sure. We found our perfectly affordable 3 +2 here on 3 acres. Chapel Hill is about 30 minutes from those other aforementioned areas. We love it here in Chapel Hill because it is quiet and rural. We are surrounded by beautiful homes and farmlands on several acres of land, so everything is very spread out. We love the actual small town, which is about 1450 and growing. It is basically a one stoplight town with a fire station, post office and police station. There are a few local restaurants in town which are family owned, but the choices are limited. I highly recommend Viking Pizza by the way. Their pizza is some of the best out here. The beauty of the 2 lane country roads and stunning sunrises and sunsets are our favorite things! The people and all our neighbors are some of the friendliest, warmest people we have met. The biggest public park in our area is 10 minutes away which is actually The Henry Horton State Park. They have just built a new visitor center and restaurant on the grounds and it is pretty amazing. There are plenty of outdoor activities and the park has a really nice RV park and pool. For exercise in the summer you will probably want to join the county community center located in Spring Hill with a satellite location in College Grove which is closer to Chapel Hill. Otherwise there are plenty of places to hike and walk. Biking on the roads is limited due to lack of bike lanes but we still see a good amount of bikers. Personally, we bike out in the many locations in and around Nashville. Overall we love it here and are super happy with our choice!
