A Good Hub 3 rating By grantpressure ( May 09, 2023) I'd like to preface this review by saying that I've lived exclusively in apartments in Cockeysville, MD for the last 10 years and do not have children. So I cannot speak to things regarding home ownership or schools.

Cockeysville is on the north end of the highway leading into B
...Read More altimore City. For me, this has been the perfect distance. I'm away from the pace of the city and crowds and the problems that come with both, but still close enough that I can easily make it downtown in 20-30 minutes to enjoy restaurants, events, etc. This proximity is a big win for me. Its also close to Towson, another more lively area outside of downtown, so again, you're closer to that lifestyle without being stuck in it.

In regards to employment, there are a number of large and small businesses in this area. I've had the same job for my entire time here, but there have been some newer businesses added in that time. The Hunt Valley portion of Cockeysville has a lot of industry and office buildings, which given how close the highway is, allows for pretty easy navigation for people coming from outside of this area.

Cost of living here is not bad, but not great. I currently have a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment with about 1200sq ft and the cost is ~1400/month. Moving closer to Towson or Baltimore City, those prices jump significantly for far less. Granted, there are absolutely apartments in this area that charge an arm and a leg for really abysmal conditions. I used to live in one, so be on your guard. But in terms of costs of food, gas, and other things that fluctuate depending on location, Cockeysville is reasonably affordable compared to some nearby cities and towns.

For entertainment and dining, this area is hit and miss. There's nice parks nearby like Oregon Ridge and NCR Trail, if you like to hike or enjoy nature. There is also the State Fairgrounds which host some interesting events ranging from cultural festivals, pet shows, and the State Fair. Dining is pretty okay. A lot of chains/franchises or some locally owned pizza/sandwich shops. There are definitely some smaller gems like Snoasis, An Poitin Stil, and Taco Bravo, but typically for a nicer night out dining, you'll be going outside the area. For shopping there are a wide range of shops, for sure. Lots of thrift stores, some comic shops, smoke shops, bakeries, etc., but also some larger chain stores in the Hunt Valley area. Again, though, for better options you'll be heading outside of Cockeysville area.

My experience here really boils down to its an affordable place to live but still be relatively close to things I want to do, which honestly is what I'd want wherever I was living. Read Less
Beautiful Countryside in Cockeysville 3 rating By Anonymous ( May 16, 2018) Cockeysville is a suburban area in Baltimore County and is about 20 minutes from the city of Baltimore. It's a really quiet community and like living in the country. It's good to have a car to get around. There is a train system called the "Light Rail" that travels through the ar ...Read More ea if commuting to Baltimore for work or school. York Road is the main strip and runs through the town. The area's a good mix of people with different cultures and backgrounds.

There are many small businesses in the area and it's a great family environment. Living in Cockeysville is reminiscent of neighborhoods from a time long ago. You can usually see children playing outside at the parks and playgrounds. The crime rate is very low and the community is still relatively safe. You can find spacious apartments at good rates. Homes are reasonably priced and you can also find more pricey, upscale properties. Some of the best areas in Cockeysville are near neighboring Hunt Valley.

The areas amenities are limited, but the town is close to Baltimore for entertainment, shopping and dining. Interstate 83 runs through Cockeysville and will connect you to other roads and highways. There's an awesome trail available for walking, biking, and even horseback riding. Read Less
