Violent drug/ crime-infested cesspool 1 rating By Anonymous ( Dec 16, 2019) Pawnshops, strip clubs, gangs, violence, pan-handlers, bad drivers, boarded up homes, dilapidated trailer parks and ghettos located right next to nicer neighborhoods, newly installed medians everywhere which make getting around town a headache, feral children roaming around in p ...Read More acks, many many pittbulls, sit in pretty much *any* store or restaurant parking lot for more than 5-10 minutes and you'll witness a drug deal, more bad areas than good areas (and some of the areas that look good are actually bad), and -- at least in my neighborhood - an almost constant "boom boom boom" in the back ground from loud speakers pumping out offensive profanity-laced rap music well into the night. But its not all bad, there's good people here and stuff to do if you look for them. I'd recommend moving to Clairway, Briarwood Hills, or the better part of Haymount Hill if possible (there are other good places, too, just be sure to do your homework before moving into any particular neighborhood), put your children into private schools if possible, avoid all trailer parks and any neighborhood that's connected to or anywhere near downtown in general( though there's a couple of exceptions), keep a tight leash on your kids as everyone here seems to get high. Good luck! Read Less
Lacking ethics and values 2 rating By Anonymous ( Sep 15, 2019) The city has ow to no standards and its current management as of 2019 is solely in CYA mode. If you want a city where the city management has not addressed higher-paying jobs or quality-of-life issues to include ethics within its own departments then this is the city for you.
Eve
...Read More ry night is an exercise in futility wondering whether it'll be more gunshots or thumping bass that vibrates the windows of your house.
Don't even question whether it's worth it take a stand or fight for it: it is not. The city applied laws and ordinances differently depending upon who you are and how much influence you have in the city. The police department hires individuals that will assist their friends with committing crimes and then cover it up: do internal investigations that no one has the right to know the results of. The Police Department will lose / misplace evidence and drag their feet hoping you're just give up. That is the general unspoken consensus for the majority of City departments. If you truly want an exercises in futility, ask any Department what the standards are and to be on the record.
This city is okay only if you go to work, go back to your house, go to eat at chain restaurants, and then go back to your house. If you start looking around you will start to see where things unravel, you will start to see the smoke and mirrors and propaganda. Read Less

My Fayetteville Experience 2 rating By DoctorMike ( Oct 02, 2017) I moved to Fayetteville in 2014 to go into business with a friend of mine. Unfortunately that didn't work out. There are military contractor jobs in Fayetteville, but onl ...Read More y for those with Special Operations experience, which I didn't have. It didn't help that there was a sequester on and a civilian hiring freeze. Even so, I applied for many jobs on Ft. Bragg, but was never even asked to interview. In frustration, I used retirement money to buy a consulting franchise. After 2 1/2 years I was forced to close the business, and I moved to Minnesota, where I found a job almost immediately. The area is relatively a relatively inexpensive place to live, and has plenty of restaurants (hundreds). Other than a decent military museum, there aren't very many local attractions. Parts of Fayetteville have high crime. I actually lived in a decent suburb. Most of the people I knew who were doing well owned trades type businesses, or were former SF group people. There are plenty of jobs if you want to wait tables or bartend. I needed up selling cars, but made barely minimum wage doing that. In the end, the decision to leave made itself. Read Less

Fayetteville, NC - Just Another Country City! 3 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 01, 2010) I visited the city of Fayetteville, NC in July of 2008 to purchase a used car. I was not particularly impressed with anything I saw in Fayetteville but it may have some potential for a family stop!

I found Fayetteville to be very boring with no major attractions that interested
...Read More me personally. However for families with children there are several attractions such as the Nature Center, a Kids Museum and the Airborne & Special Operations Museum. There is also the Cameo Art House Theater which might be worth a visit. Fayetteville is rather small and has a very country feel, I got a very bland feeling from the community.

Overall, there was not anything that I really disliked about Fayetteville however I would not consider revisiting Fayetteville. The time spent there could have been more interesting, luckily there are some decent restaurants including a selection of Italian Bistros. There is also a mall located in Fayetteville which offered a fair experience for shopping and killing some extra time. The nightlife consisted of a few local bars and sub-par club which was mostly empty on a weekend making it a bland experience. Fayetteville has very little to offer to tourists and residents alike in my opninion. Read Less

      Fayetteville, NC

Home to one of the Army's largest installations, Fayetteville is a strategically important city located in the heart of North Carolina. Fort Bragg is a large military base that trains our nation's heroes, and it blesses the area with a rich cultural heritage. Today, Fayetteville is home for over 200,000 patriotic Americans who are proud to support the men and women who serve this nation. The city is one of the ten largest in the entire state, and it provides its residents with a good quality of life that is highly dependent upon the military members who temporarily reside in the area.

In addition to the military base, the area is also home to a number of universities and churches to meet the religious needs of the city's residents. Fayetteville State University and Fayetteville Technical College offer degrees and certificate programs that prepare students for employment opportunities once their college days are finished. The Cumberland County Hospital System takes care of the medical needs of a large percentage of the population. Fort Bragg also has a large military medical facility that serves active duty soldiers and a select number of retirees. Soffe is a private company in the area that has a reputation of good working conditions with understanding managers.

Those who are looking to buy or rent a home in Fayetteville typically begin the hunt in Arran Lakes. It is a beautiful waterfront community that has a nice selection of new homes. Lake Shores and Duck Landing are other neighborhoods that offer residents a high quality of life and low cost of living. In general, homes in Fayetteville are very affordable. There are also many rental properties available to cater to the needs of the city's military residents.

Finding things to do in Fayetteville is not difficult since the military has many attractions that are available to the general public. One of the most interesting places to visit is the Airborne and Special Operations Museum that showcase the training and dedication that it takes to become one of the nation's elite warfighters. Cape Fear Botanical Garden is a lovely park in the center of the city that has a great selection of flowers and trees on display that are carefully groomed and manicured by the park's staff. Zipquest is the place to go for thrill-seekers who can zip high above the forest tree lines at speeds upwards of 30 miles per hour.

Fayetteville is also home to some of the best BBQ in the entire state. The dining scene is not a one-trick pony though since there are some ethnic restaurants in the downtown area that are highly recommended. Antonella's Italian Ristorante is one of those that comes to mind.
