Fort Campbell North, KY: One of Our Favorite Duty Stations 4 rating By Anonymous ( May 23, 2018) For a military family like ours, Fort Campbell North is a good place to live. I like the overall community atmosphere of the region compared to some other military housing areas where we have been assigned. Away from major metropolitan areas, Fort Campbell has more of a small tow ...Read More n feel than some of our other duty stations.
Another thing that we love is that everything is nearby. I don't have to fight freeways and big city traffic to shop or find anything we need. The base commissary is close as well as the local markets. The local hangouts like The Landing Zone and C&J Karaoke Bar are fun. When we want a night on the town, Bowling Green or Nashville are close enough to visit. Since we love music and Nashville is only about an hour away, it's one of our favorite excursions.
Base housing is also pretty good. I recommend you check out The Village Commons at Hammond Heights, but get your application in early as soon as you get your orders to Fort Campbell. Schools are also pretty good with five elementary schools, two middle schools and a high school. Overall, I'd rank Fort Campbell North as one of our best assignments and places to live. Read Less
