for its peach orchards. The industry still provides the vast majority of job opportunities, but other residents choose to commute to nearby Grand Junction for additional career options. The high desert climate is conducive to the favorable fruit cultivation, as well as the wide array of outdoor activities that Fruita is known for boasting.
The best area in Fruita is the Colorado National Monument. The sweeping views and the vast network of hiking and biking trails is a Colorado treasure. The Dinosaur Journey Museum is a fun outing for people of all ages, showcasing hands-on exhibitions of real fossils and robotic dinosaurs. In recent years, the popularity of whitewater river rafting in the area has exploded.
