Harrison has been a good place to grow up. I've lived here for almost all of the 22 years of my life. Lots of good people here. The public schools are pretty good, especially for being a "small town in Arkansas." There is good healthcare with the hospital. A few good restaurants, ...Read More
although I wish there were some more options. There is no Chick-Fil-A or Starbucks but there is an airport with cheap nonstop flights to Dallas and Memphis!
There is a legitimate negative connection to some historical and current racism that thankfully does not represent most residents but is unfortunately more evident than it should be. There is very little diversity, it is 98% White.
There's not much to do besides the movie theater, bowling, and going to Walmart. The cost of living is SO cheap though -- homes are dirt cheap compared to any metro area around the country.
Being in proximity to Branson, Missouri rounds out anything you may be lacking here. Branson has a lot of shopping, just 29 minutes up the road. Also there are many gorgeous hikes and outdoor activities available at and near the beautiful Buffalo River area!
Harrison has been good, even though I will be moving away very soon. Harrison did help shape me into who I am today, mostly for the better!
If you desire a small-town life in the South to raise a family with just enough amenities to get by, Harrison is a good town!

e of the main offices and hubs for FedEX Freight is located here in town. We also have several other large employers including Pace Industries, Windstream Telecommunications, and WestRock. So finding gainful employment is this area is not an issue.
The best areas in Harrison, Arkansas include the National Park Service’s Buffalo National River Park. Harrison also hosts the annual Arkansas Hot Air Balloon Race yearly. There are also several other events scattered throughout the year for the enjoyment of the local community.
This town is growing, but everyone continues to be friendly. One thing that could use some improvement is that the population needs to be a bit more diverse. Living here is enjoyable though and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a city with a small-town feel, but with lots of things to do.
