Cherry Point At Havelock, N.C. 3 rating By Anonymous ( May 16, 2018) I was transferred to Havelock, N.C. as I am in the military. Havelock is home to Cherry Point, a Marine Air Station Training Center. The USMC base provides employment for the area, but the cost of living in the area is somewhat higher due to competition for housing. Local crime c ...Read More an be high for the area due to the base. This town is located within 20 Miles of the Atlantic Ocean and a part of the wetlands. Shopping is better in Morehead City located on the inlet waterway or New Bern, N.C. located on the Nuese River, either less than 20 miles away.

The weather is seasonal yet mild year round but can be humid. The Neusiok Hiking Trail is a favorite hiking and camping outdoor nature adventure. There is a local tourist center that can tune you into all of the area events. Cherry Point puts on air shows for the public to attend. With Atlantic Beach less than 30 miles away, there is always fun in the sun. Read Less
