Hornell small city 3 rating By Anonymous ( Nov 24, 2021) A few very nice restaurants, club 57, is my fav but there are three or four others, movie theatre kept clean, a few spas and hair salons. Pizza king is the best pizza. My grandfather always got his with onions for 40 years. I walk in seven years after he passed and he was till ...Read More remembered. Wegmans is one of the best places to shop, Walmart is central to a home improvement store. And wegmans, and honestly most of the basic stuff you could want. There are a few chain places, Applebee’s. Burger king( all the usual ones) some thrift stores, a Salvation Army, a really neat antiques coOperative. It’s got an old railroad history so there are some ramshackle houses, but there also some lovely properties. .I like both cities and the middle of nowhere. I’m not much of a suburb “ every house looks the same” sort of thing. I have traveled the country extensively for work, and though Hornell is not a three ring circus of excitement, but there are many many worse places to live. I feel like the colleges of Alfred U and Alfred state as well as hospital brings an nice intellectual influence. Read Less
Avoid This Town if You Can! 1 rating By Not from Here ( Jun 04, 2018) There is nothing to recommend in this town except for Walmart, and Wegmans. Not one decent restaurant, nothing to do here and just plain ugly place with rundown houses, boarded up buildings and general decay. Scary people in the street and at stores including druggies and dru ...Read More nks. The streets do not get plowed quickly or well in the winter and are full of potholes and bumps. Sidewalks are dangerous to navigate. The surrounding towns are not much better. Run away! Read Less
