life is what you make it 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( Apr 17, 2020) I love the outdoors ,horse racing , hiking , boating , water sports ,fishing , hunting [ i shoot with Camera if I needed the meat wouldn't hesitate to use rifle ] I love the weather not to hot not to cold. lots of festivals a lot of touristy things also. Hots Springs gets a bad ...Read More review on crime but most of the crime comes from the horse track 4 months a year and most of that is done by and perpetuated on track workers and a few tourist . the people here are more likely to talk to you than not. and the cost of living is about 30 percent cheaper than were I came from and I live on the lake in a bigger home . Life is what you make it I love Hot Springs the air is sweet unlike the dog crap , human piss and diesel fuel mixture that was NYC air supply. Read Less
You could always do worse 2.5 rating By Anonymous ( Mar 03, 2020) As a resident of 9 years, my wife and I are ready to move on. We are both college grads and don't seem to find many fellow
grads unless its part of the downtown (outside tourists) scene. As parents of a elementary age kid, we have found the public school not meeting our ex

There is not a shortage of funds for constructing new buildings though. The crime stats are probably worse than than what the report states. I have been stolen from multiple times including a; truck, trailer, kayak, boat battery, boat gas (LOL). Methamphetamine use is rampant and the educational / employment opportunities are negligible. What you will find is many people here surviving on a subsistence level, usually supported by some kind of gov't assistance check. Unfortunately, without good jobs, people revert to stealing or drug dealing as a means to an end

As this place is geographically isolated, one will spend many hours driving to an urban adventure. Memphis is 3.5 hrs, Dallas about 5

That said, if you are considering retiring here and enjoy the nearby lakes/ rivers/ hills you are going to find this as an affordable place to live with mild winters yet bearable summers, esp.if you are in the water.

With the recent expansion of Oaklawn track and casino, you might find tourism to increase more than current levels, which can be
annoying for some residents.

There is a decent mix of restaurants, not eclectic by any stretch, but recently improved from 3-4 years ago. Food, music and cultural activities ride backseat to outdoors stuff like; horses, hunting, fishing, etc. . . . Read Less
Hot Springs Arkansas - Healing Waters and Happy People 4 rating By Anonymous ( May 14, 2018) I've been living in Hot Springs for two years and I can't imagine being anywhere else. The job market is growing and it's a wonderful place to raise a family. Park Magnet School has the best education in the city. The cost of living is fairly low.

It's gorgeous here! The weathe

One of the best areas in Hot Springs is on the north side of town. " The American Spa " is located on the north side and features natural thermal waters that feel fabulous. The shopping is great. Rock Paper Scissors as a fun little boutique to visit. Did I mention the southern hospitality? It’s out of this world.

The public transportation is alright. The buses at Intracity Transport run twelve hours a day, but they're closed on major holidays. The restaurants in Hot Springs make up for it though! Boogies Bar and Grill is my favorite. They serve delicious homestyle food with a four-star rating. When I go out at night, I prefer to visit The Corner Bar located close to the natural spa. The people, food, and amazing spas are some of the many reasons I'm happy to call Hot Springs home. Read Less
