Laurel, MS is known as "The City Beautiful." The city was founded in 1882 to support the lumber industry in the area. It also became a good location for farming and cotton textiles. The total area of Laurel is 15.8 square miles.

e oldest art museum in the State of Mississippi. Major employers in the city include Howard Industries, Sanderson Farms and Masonite International. You can use the Amtrak Crescent trains to reach New York, Philadelphia and Atlanta. The Hattiesburg - Laurel Regional Airport serves the area. Clinton Portis and Leontyne Price were from Laurel.
The cost of living is very good in Laurel, MS. Crime is a bit high. Housing is old. Education and employment are sub-standard in this town. Living in Laurel is affordable. You also have access to a number of unique restaurants, like Vic's, Huddle House, Shoney's, Topher's Rock N Roll Grill and The Cajun Kitchen.
