A Very Dangerous Area 1 rating By Anonymous ( Oct 24, 2018) Lehigh Acres is basically a criminal town; some of the people there will stalk you and wait for the right time to attack you. The neighborhoods are fraught with unleashed vicious dogs that mean harm to bystanders. Racial discrimination from the minorities is rampant throughout t ...Read More he area. Very Dangerous Area 0.5 rating By Anonymous ( Oct 24, 2018) I have lived in Lehigh Acres for most of my life. Throughout the years, I've been physically attacked in the schools (growing up), physically attacked on the workforce, and even physically attacked sitting in the pew of a church. The people will stalk and attack you when unawares ...Read More . Robbery, trespassing, unleashed vicious dogs are a few other rampant problems plaguing this area.If you come to this town, you or your family will be at risk of some form of crime. Slow Down and Enjoy Life in Lehigh Acres FL 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( Feb 17, 2015) I grew up in Lee County, Florida in the uncrowded city of Lehigh Acres. It's a great place to raise a family with friendly locals and great access to the beach and most theme parks within a short drive. Because it sits in the humid tropical climate, there is plenty of sunshine an ...Read More d hardly any rain or other weather problems to contend with. Currently, there are about 96,000 that call this area home. Because it is a coastal community, the wind swept breezes from the Gulf are stimulating.

There is a great deal of retired people living around, but that just seems to make the place safer. The crime rate here is lower than in other parts of Florida. The lifestyle is very laid back. There are plenty of water sports and things to get involved in. I found a real sense of community and they are more than welcoming of outsiders. It is a diverse area where both Spanish and English are often spoken. This is primarily to the large population of Cuban and Spanish that dwell here.

When it comes to scenery, there is no place better in the world. The picturesque streets lined with palms and the breathtaking downtown area is just perfect. The town has done well to preserve their history, as well as embrace the present. We are just 130 miles south of Tampa, so if a store can't be found here, it's just a short drive to an amazing big city. There is no theater, no big chain restaurants and not allot of traffic here. Things are a bit slower. However, all of this can be reached in a short amount of time by doing some traveling. Usually within 25 minutes or so, there is a great selection of restaurants and amenities.

Is it the perfect place to live? Probably not, the city is a bit slower than some places. But, I find the slower place and welcoming locals to be a breath of fresh air to most Florida communities.

Compare Lehigh Acres, FL Livability

      vs

      Lehigh Acres, FL

Lehigh Acres is a moderately sized town in Florida, which is 20-minute drive from Fort Myers. With an estimated population of 120,000, it has become a cavalcade of cultures, which includes Latinos, African Americans, and Europeans, mainly from Germany. It is one of the largest residential communities in Lee County and the whole of Florida.

Living in Lehigh Acres gives you a chance to interact with a beautiful community ranked among the best places to raise a family. Life here offers the residents a suburban rural mix, and you’ll find most people living in their own homes.

Most of the year is hot. The summers are long, oppressive, and mostly cloudy, while the winters are short and comfortable. The best times to visit for warm weather outdoor activities are from February to early May and from October to late December. Do you love hiking and biking in nature? Here is the perfect destination for you. The fishing hobbyist will find their home too. The Gulf of Mexico and nearby barrier islands will give you spectacular salty water fishing opportunities.

There are lots of fast-food restaurants like Culversand McDonalds, and you will easily find a quick bite without walking too far. There’s however, not much entertainment and nightlife, which means you have to drive out of town to nearby Fort Myer.

There are many beautiful places to visit in Lehigh. One of the most wonderful places to view stunning landscapes is Harns Marsh. You can fish and hike or enjoy sightseeing. In a single day, you will see many different species of birds, ducks, egrets, herons, limpkins, snail kites, and the ibis.

While living here, you can also visit Manatee Park Barkingham Dog Park, Artful Gardens, and Wild Turkey Strand Preserve in Fort Myers, among other places. The Caloosahatchee Regional Park and Hickey’s Creek Mitigation Park in Alva are also excellent places to wander around and do your hiking adventures.

You don’t have to worry if you do want to drive around the town on one of those hot afternoons. Lee County Transit department (LeeTran) provides bus services to Bonita Springs, Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Fort Myers Beach.

If you’re driving, however, the traffic is horrible, especially in the evening hours. Everyone is getting out of work around that time. You might, therefore, spend hours waiting to get home. This is perhaps one of the least desirable things about living here.

It would be worthwhile noting that while home prices have been on the rise in the community, they’re still much more affordable than many areas of Lee County and South West Florida. This makes it the best place for young working families and retirees. It is relatively affordable to live in this area, especially if you’re working in Naples or Fort Myers.

Lehigh Acres ranks as America’s fastest-growing city in the area. It has a rapidly growing economy thanks to well-planned road improvements, among other reasons. Job opportunities are increasing. For instance, Family health Centers of Southwest Florida, with its new headquarters, is seeking to expand health care services in the community. This will create many new jobs.
