So much potential! 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( Sep 22, 2021) Maryville, TN is a fantastic location, halfway between Nashville, TN and Asheville, NC so you would think you’d have a a bit of both of those worlds here which would be incredible. While I love the beauty of the mountains and rivers - hard to beat it, unfortunately it doesn’t ...Read More live up to its potential. Downtown needs more revitalization (unique mountain type boutiques and restaurants but not too touristy like Gatlinburg) and housing definitely needs to be upgraded. There’s too much traditional architecture and not enough of the modern mountain feel that’s so desirable in a place like this. Also, builders are few and far between and prices have been skyrocketing with all the people from CA, NY, and Chicago moving here due to Covid. Also, someone needs to enforce some kind of property upkeep laws. You will be driving through so much natural beauty and then bam, you feel like you are passing a dump. Trashy trailers, shacks, and abandoned buildings should not be allowed. If I were the mayor, or whoever manages the area, I would have a major clean-up and make these people clean things up. I understand poverty, but that does not mean you have to live in a dump heap. You have extremes from good, salt of the earth, southern folk, and then complete rednecks that scare the heck out of you to even drive by. I’m a native Tennessean so I can call it like it is. Let’s make some improvements and get a little more class with good, modest, development in this town. It really does have so much potential. I don’t know why North Carolina has so many quaint small mountain towns but Tennessee doesn’t. Maryville could very easily be much like Franklin, TN on a smaller scale and with a more mountain feel with the right leadership, but unfortunately so far it is missing the boat. Read Less
Not as good as it once was 2.5 rating By Anonymous ( Sep 19, 2021) Overcrowded now and overpriced land developers are DESTROYING Maryville. Corrupt local politics to the point of "wow are we still in Cali" we say daily. Moved here 3 years ago and it gets worse ever month. ...Read More Read Less

Maryville Tennessee is the perfect city for a family 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 14, 2018) Living in Maryville has been a great experience for my family and I. We moved to the city from Georgia in 2014 when I got a promotion and we decided to buy a house. What we instantly fell in love with was the peaceful vibe the city gives. We live near Sam Houston Elementary where ...Read More my kids attend and so far they have not had any problems, the teachers and community are nice.

The city has enough shopping centers, but it’s not overcrowded like other where we lived before. Commuting is easy as there’s few traffic and many highways that connect nearby. Overall I would definitely recommend Maryville to anyone.

We consider this to be one of the best areas in Tennessee. I personally haven’t really witnessed any crime in the three years I’ve been here and hope it stays that way. If you’re thinking of moving to the area be aware that housing is not cheap. Read Less
