I love McKinney, TX!!! 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( Feb 16, 2012) I really enjoy living in McKinney, as there are many things to do. One of the main reasons why I love living here is the weather. The summers are nice and hot while the winters tend to be very mild and comfortable. The community here is laid back and it is a very safe place to li ...Read More ve.

I also love living here due to the many great restaurants that I live near. Most of the restaurants I live near are located around W Louisiana Street. One of the restaurants I always go to is Rick's Chophouse, which is one of the best steakhouses in all of Texas. The nightlife could be a bit better but there are some nice bars in the downtown area. I find that most of the bars overcharge for drinks and they can be way too busy.

Main street in McKinney is located in downtown and there are quite a few cool shops there. There are awesome antique shops. clothing shops and specialty shops. The Antique House is my favorite antique shop to shop at.

I really enjoy living here and there is always something to do around here. Some of my favorite attractions are museum and wildlife sanctuary, the Landon Winery and the Chestnut Square Historic Village. All of these locations are located right in the center of the city.

I really do not have anything bad to say about the city but I do wish that there were more bars and clubs to go too but other than that the city is the perfect place to live. If you are thinking about visiting or moving to McKinney, then you should definitely do it because the city is safe and very fun to visit and I plan on living here for many years to come.

Compare McKinney, TX Livability

      vs

      McKinney, TX

Everything is bigger in Texas, and the homes in McKinney are no exception to this rule. The city is located on the outskirts of the Dallas - Fort Worth Metro Area, and it is an area where those who are looking to get a lot of square footage for the money come to stretch their budget. Today, the city is home to over 190,000 residents who enjoy an easy commute into the larger cities where many of the city's top employers are located.

While McKinney may be a suburb of a larger metro area, it still has its own rich history and historic architecture that is on full display in the Historic Downtown area. Here you will see storefronts that date back to the turn of the 1900s that have preserved their historic look and feel. There are some really cool and eclectic shops in the area as well that are a hit with those looking for unique fashion items or furnishings. Erwin Park is one of the largest green spaces in the area. It is a great place to take the kids when you want to fly a kite or pitch a tent. The Heard National Science and Wildlife Museum is another attraction that is family-friendly. Kids will learn all about the animals that are found in the local area.

Speaking of kids and learning, McKinney schools offer one of the finest education experiences in this part of Texas. Wilmeth Elementary School, McKinney High, and Faubion Middle School are a few of the key schools in the city. McKinney has good teachers, competent administrators, and a whole lot of school spirit.

Those who do not know where to begin their hunt for a home should check out the Eastwood Hills or Prestwyck areas of the city. Each of these areas offers a unique experience with a variety of homes that are spaced over the price spectrum. Transportation in McKinney is typically not an issue since there are public transit options available to those who do not have their own vehicle. Collins County Transit offers a number of busses and shuttles that run on routes all over the county. There are stops near all of the major employers and points of interest in McKinney.

If you are looking for employment in McKinney, Liberty Mutual, Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems, and Toyota are a few of the top choices based off of feedback from current employees. These companies offer competitive salaries, generous pay and benefit packages, and a work culture that makes you want to show up in the morning.

Life in McKinney is pretty nice due to the city's amenities, friendly residents, and a real sense of community.
