Milford, Pennsylvania, in my opinion, is the Manhattan of Pike County 4 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 13, 2021) And just like Manhattan, this city never seems to ‘sleep’. You’ll still see cars out, even at night. Milford is a pretty city with a handful of stores and commercial buildings. The city is a delight to walk through, especially at night. However, the drivers there aren’t t ...Read More he best, a lady in a truck nearly hit me when I was crossing the street while the walking signal was on. To be quite frank, the drivers in the rest of Pike County are not the best either. And the government there has a .org website instead of a .gov website. And there is a major lack of tourist attractions here, which I hope changes soon.

Overall, I loved it here and hope that one day, I will visit here again. Read Less
Been a resident for 10+ years 3 rating By hugjunkie93 ( Jul 06, 2015) Milford is a gorgeous town with loads of history. It is full of antique shops and old architecture, and if you are an outdoorsy person/family then this place has got everything you need to hunt, fish, shoot, hike, bike, etc. Unfortunately, if you don't already have an established ...Read More career, it will be nearly impossible for you to begin a comfortable business here. There are many shops in the heart of Milford that have opened, closed and reopened so often that the locals can't keep track of the supermarket's newest name, or who currently owns the popular deli on Broadstreet. People living here are miserable in the winter because it gets unbearably, painfully cold; however, in the summer and fall, Milford is incredibly beautiful, with bursting trees and blooming flowers aplenty.

Long story short, I will most likely enjoy taking summer trips to Milford someday in the future, but I won't be staying here to live.

Amenities include a medium sized theatre, hiking trails along the Delaware and various waterfalls, PEEC and "Have a Hoot" family fun center. Shopping in town is limited, but there are a few boutiques and interior design/decoration shops. Restaurants of note include Apple Valley, the Milford Diner and Chang Mao. There are more options about 5-10 minutes out of town past the Wal-Mart, where the theater is: Perkins, Jake's Wayback Burgers, Rudy's Frozen Yogurt (previously Yocups), etc. Other than that, events to consider attending are the Milford Music Fest (June), Black Bear Film Festival (October) and weekly happenings like Open Mic nights at the Frisky Goat Coffee House (previously Broad Street Coffee House and 7th Street Coffee). Okay place to visit, wouldn't want to live there 2 rating By shellbell89 ( Jul 26, 2013) I lived in Milford for about 4 years. I can honestly say it was the worst 4 years of my life. The people are some of the most unfriendly people I have ever met. Anyone who grew up in the area is very suspect of "outsiders". Anyone I met that was friendly was from somewhere el ...Read More se. There isn't much to do if you aren't in to hunting, fishing or other outdoor activities. Housing is affordable comparable to New York and New Jersey but you will also most likely be stuck with baseboard heat, well and septic, and no air conditioning. We did find some nice local restaurants, but overall you will have to drive 45 minutes to either Middletown or Scranton to do any shopping. If you are in to antiques than Milford may be the place for you. Milford is about 2 1/2 hours from Manhattan which is about the only plus I can think of. Read Less
