Oroville, CA: A Town That Emerged From the Gold Rush 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 16, 2018) Oroville is a small town with an interesting history. It was established during the Gold Rush. It's a laid-back place that you'll love if you're into outdoor activities such as hiking and biking. We're surrounded by mountains, rivers, and lakes. The scenery is gorgeous. It's my f ...Read More avorite reason to live here.

My 2 favorite unique places to visit in Oroville are the Chinese Temple (now a museum, not an active worship place) and the great Mother Orange Tree which is more than 100 years old and miraculously survived a terrible frost some years ago. As far as the best natural attractions, Bald Rock is a place that overlooks our town on the mountain with a fantastic view. I love it there. We also have one of the highest falls in the US called Feather Falls. Table Mountain has beautiful wildflowers everywhere in the Spring.

Its such a small town, there's not much employment, nightlife, etc. There are some decent restaurants in town, but nothing fancy. My favorite place to eat is Taqueria Estrella/They have great burritos. I also like Tong Fong Low, a Chinese restaurant that's been around since 1912. Read Less
