The worst small town I have ever lived in...

We moved here several years ago and decided to rent before we bought a home; now we are planning to buy elsewhere as I refuse to live here any longer. The schools are so terrible that we sent our kids out of district - and many others do, as well...the town spends over $500k a ye ...Read More
ar on students being sent out of district because their parents have given up on Palmer schools. The town is managed so poorly that much of it is empty storefronts and dying businesses. They don't even have a town manager who lives here - they pay a man who lives in another town to "manage" the town...in addition, most of the local administrators don't live here, either (school superintendent, principals, etc.).It's no wonder the place is a ghost town - none of the people running it are invested in it. People who live here are awful to outsiders - and you're an outsider unless you've lived here your entire life. When anything happens requiring the police, they do nothing (literally nothing - we had to wait over a month to get a police report for an incident; the officer's supervisor/sgt just shrugged it off, they then refused to press charges for an A&B). Just this morning at the voting polls was a perfect example of the vibe here - tables full of grouchy volunteers snapping and snarling at voters...a miserable town full of miserable people - we can't wait to leave!

Palmer, Massachusetts in the place that I have lived almost my entire life and I while this has been my home most of my life. I do think that my time here is coming to an end. The area is pleasant enough, but I just do not feel that this place is showing growth.

er, Massachusetts provided me with a decent education. I graduated from Palmer High School. I do not feel like my high school experiences completely prepared me for a college experience.
The best areas in Palmer, Massachusetts are the scenic areas that you can enjoy quiet moments in. There are small mountains around this area that provide some beautiful views. If you like to fish or boat, you can find a few small lakes and ponds in this area to do those activities in.
The people here have been kind. Many of them have watched me grow up. The community itself is tight-knit. It is just that since the area isn’t growing, I feel like I can’t grow.
