Three years living in Rio Rancho and we cannot wait to move 2 rating By Anonymous ( Sep 03, 2022) We located here prior to COVID in 2019. Although the views and homes are quite pleasant in Rio Rancho, there is not much to recommend it. We have extremely limited restaurants here with only mediocre quality. The winds here are ridiculously high and the dirt comes inside everywh ...Read More ere.
Most upsetting is the amount of crime in the ABQ area. Constant shootings, rampant drug and alcohol abuse, homeless people at many intersections. We have had our car burgled in the driveway, garden tools and more stolen from our backyard, people stealing from our mailbox and boxes from our porch and threatening encounters from our neighbors.
Be aware of the limited and poor quality of healthcare in New Mexico. We pray to avoid any major illnesses as we would have to leave the state to seek excellent care. Read Less
OK living, a giant housing development, not a town or community 2.5 rating By Anonymous ( Oct 22, 2020) Built a house and have lived here over 20 years. Despite city ordinances preventing heavy equipment and construction type businesses from operating out of residences the city's "Code Enforcement" turns a blind eye. Barking dogs are also a problem that "Animal Control" does nothi ...Read More ng about. The city government is bloated and ineffective. Property taxes up every year. Raised my kids here at a time when the schools were good. Schools are still not bad but demographics are changing and the education system will reflect that. Still not a bad place to raise a family in an urban/suburban environment compared to Albuquerque. Read Less
Lived here 8 years now 3 rating By Anonymous ( Aug 16, 2018) Rio Rancho is a smaller community than Albuquerque which is across the river east. Rio has 2 high schools and many middle and elementary schools. Our school RRPS is better than than APS and it pays appropriately $5k more than APS (for teachers). We have 2 Walmarts close by a ...Read More nd Cottonwood mall down the hill. We also have Premier Theater which is nice. 2 microbreweries and many restaurants throughout Rio Rancho. 4 public pools (1 in doors) and many dog parks.Yes, Rio Rancho does have it all. Read Less
Rio Rancho, NM Is A Jewel In The Desert 4 rating By Anonymous ( Apr 23, 2012) I moved to Rio Rancho, NM five years ago. I must say that the entire area is impressive and I enjoy the city immensely. It is located in a beautiful area, and there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation. There are plenty of hiking trails in the nearby volcanoes, and ...Read More several parks are within an easy drive. The Bosque is a short ride away and is filled with green spaces and parks. The schools are some of the best in the country, and there are plenty of well paying jobs in the technology industry.

The best thing that I like about Rio Rancho is the environment and temperature. This city is in the middle of the desert, and the summers are warm and sunny. The winter is sunny too, and there is hardly any snow. The mountains are only a short drive away, and this provides a great chance to go skiing, ride a tram to the top of Sandia Peak or have a meal at the High Finance restaurant.

The schools are another draw that interested me in Rio Rancho. I was living in Albuquerque, and I was thinking about the best place to send my kids for their education. Rio Rancho schools regularly rank as some of the best in the country and provide the latest technology for their students. Intel is located nearby and provides the community with support in a number of ways.

The city is a short drive away, but Rio Rancho is more relaxed and does not have any issues with crime. Residents can be in Albuquerque in less than 20 minutes. This city has ample opportunities to enjoy great restaurants and shopping. Colleges and universities are also located conveniently close, and health care is excellent. Residents are sure to love the community feel of the area. Read Less
