Don't move here!! 1.5 rating By Anonymous ( Oct 20, 2024) I lived here back when Sayre had a bussing economy and it was alright. Now, they have lost all their jobs, lost their hospital, and several businesses.
People started moving out of this town in a mass exodus back in 2015.
The only thing left there now is dilapidated houses , ...Read More empty store fronts, and a huge drug problem.
I can't believe the internet has this town rated so great on their crime rating scale. All I can think of is maybe it's partially due to the fact that the town lost its police department for a while and a lot of things didn't get reported.
The school is horrible. They have people teaching who aren't even qualified to be teachers. The bullying by fellow students, as well as faculty is a huge problem. There are several (now) registered child sex offenders who were school employees, church officials, as well as the owner of their newspaper! Definitely not a place to be raising kids.
If you feel you must move here, be sure to check the Oklahoma Sex Offender Registry. Wouldn't want you to be moving in next door to a known predator.
Don't let the cheap real estate fool you.....it's cheap there for a reason. Read Less
