We've been living here in Tehachapi (Golden Hills) for 5 years now. We came here because of a job opportunity, better schools, and to get away from the Kern County heat. People here are way more polite than Lancaster and Bakersfield folks. The city officials and Parks and Recreat ...Read More
ion Dept. put in a lot of effort to keep the city clean, safe, and fun for the community. Our streets are well maintained. We have wine tasting rooms, festivals, fundraisers, bicycle runs, rodeos, and parades throughout the year. There are a lot of hiking trails, bike trails, and horse trails. There is no homeless population and very low crime as far as I know. There is no nightlife though except for a few bars. The negatives about Tehacapi; limited shopping options, and a prison a few miles from town.

When I moved to Tehachapi in 2006 it was a nice, little town. It had what I was seeking... A quiet, rural community that offered a peaceful lifestyle, away from the hustle and bustle of nearby communities. Fast-forward to 2018, and now Tehachapi no longer offers this setting. Wit ...Read More
h all the expansion, to include two truck stops (ick), a Walmart and other retail establishments, Tehachapi has now become what I was running away from, the hustle and bustle of an incorporated town - complete with overrun traffic, increased crime and the rudeness of city folk. I live on the outskirts of Tehachapi, so at the moment I am buffered from this daily grind, but as time progresses, my neighborhood will be consumed with harrows of city life. Time for me to move on...

hopping centers, etc. There honestly is not a lot to do here except for farming and being indoors in your home. In fact, my family and I were only here for a short time because of friends we were staying with.
The best places in Techachapi, CA was the residential areas. Even though there was a lot of farming lands, there were some neighborhoods that has a cluster of newer built homes that appeared more modern. The cost of living here is extremely cheap, but there is not a lot of opportunity for jobs and or a career. There is a high unemployment rate here due to a lack of businesses opened. It gets very hot here during the Summers.
