Tryon and the other foothill towns can't be beat 5 rating By Anonymous ( Oct 29, 2019) Tryon and the surrounding towns are iconic of Southern hospitality and charm. Tryon has an older, more well educated population than some of the surrounding areas as it has attracted many retirees from the North East. Much of the population is comparatively well off, probably b ...Read More ecause of the town's equestrian roots. The Tryon Equestrian Center is world class and not far from town. Another attractive feature is Harmon field, which features a large equestrian area, baseball and soccer fields, cabins and tables for picnic lunches, a large walking loop, even a river filled with trout. The downtown area is small but quaint with several shops for browsing, a few great restaurants and a restored, historic theater. People really are exceptionally friendly and welcoming. I am so glad I discovered Tryon and have made it my home. Read Less
police vandalized my vehicle 0.5 rating By tarheel fan ( Jun 05, 2016) Pulled over late at night for nothing the bored tryon police officers vandalized my vehicle. The police chief Jeff Arrowood doesn't want to have anything to do with it. No wonder this town can't keep it's businesses. ...Read More Read Less
A sad town 0.5 rating By tryonsucksass ( Jun 04, 2016) Drugs seem to be the norm here. meth and prescription pills are huuuuge. The police chief Jeff Arrowood and at least one other officer are involved in drugs along with bill ingham who is a town council member. His business downtown was associated with drugs in public view and was told to "hide it better" by a tryon police officer and "that's coming from the top" which is Jeff Arrowood the police chief. Do not open a business here or move here as the "Friendliest town in the south" HaHa. Would be a huge disappointment. There is no attractions, nightlife or decent dining, and shopping worth mentioning as the town continues to struggle in limbo with a power hungry council that doesn't care about it's citizens. not the friendliest city in the south 1.5 rating By slewis39 ( Oct 11, 2015) tryon bills itself as the friendliest city in the south, if that's true then southern hospitality is certainly lost! Safe city to live in 3.5 rating By curtlawyer ( Jan 14, 2015) Tryon is a very safe city. The police are overzealous, though. We have a lot more trouble coming from other areas of the county. Most of the crime is related to traffic stops on Interstate 26, not areas like Tryon. I do not really understand why this review has to be at least 1 ...Read More 00 words, when there are not 100 things to do in tryon. In faqct, there are less than 10 things to do in tryon, and that woul drequire a review of all things in tryon at a pace of ten words for each thing. Some of those things may not have ten words to really be said about them. If I did not have to write 100 words in order to publish this review, I would not be typing all of this useless drivel in this review, and it would have made much more sense

Horrible Place 0.5 rating By soccerfan ( Jan 31, 2012) Sadly, I must concur with RNB, who also left a review.

If you are in Tryon, NC for a short period of time then the friendly show the town puts on might fool you. But don't stay for too long..you will be sorry.

There are some friendly people there. At least initially. However, in all actuality, you will find a town of gossipy busy bodies who do not mind their own business. They appear to have nothing better to do than stir up drama and trouble. An innocent person who never bothered anyone actually wound up dead due to this town not having the ability to mind their own business. Read Less
