My fiance and I stumbled upon this charming town when looking for some land with gigabit fiber optic internet. We both work from home and were tired of paying high city rent so we got some land here. The town is adorable. Every year Versailles hosts the Apple Festival that brings ...Read More
something like 30,000 people to the area. There is also a cute theatre called the Royal Theatre where they have plays that are so good! We weren't expecting much but were blown away with the Beauty and the Beast play this year. The singing, costumes, and set were amazing. There are also a few new restaurants like Bee's Knees Ale House and The Grille downtown which are great additions to the town. The weather is so nice here and you're only 15 minutes away from Coconuts Bar & Grille which is so much fun! This town definitely stays active for being so small - the circus was here, county fair, car show, largest midwest flea market, live bands at the park, and more! You're also close to the lake, vineyards, and an hour drive to Columbia. I think Versailles is great for anyone that wants to settle down, work remote, write a novel, create art, garden / farm, or start a business in a cute downtown area.

e library was moved to a brand new building, but it must
have Been only for the outward appearance and the librarians
benefit because besides the librarians area, the inside is small
and houses few books pr movies, sadly.
downtown is empty, save for a coffee shop, the Chinese restaurant,
and a few offices.
that's about it.
the town Laurie is close but not anything different there.
if you're visiting Versailles, best I can recommend is walk around
the small downtown square and grab a coffee at the coffee house,
then head to veracruz for dinner, if it's the Christmas season
you could drive through the little park in town because they
do light it up nicely.
but honestly save yourself and go to the other side of the lake
or better yet Jefferson city where you can atleast catch a movie
or do some shopping.
if you're moving here, let me say I was frustrated because we
couldn't get any stations to come in on our tv, and I was bored
because of lack of any resources or entertainment.
However the ladies at the health department are wonderful and
there seemed to be some good programs there.
also good police department.
In short, we are much much much happier living in a better town!
