Yakima Rack and Roll Kayak Trailer 4 rating By jg_cool ( Aug 23, 2016) Recently bought this trailer, 78 inch version and ran into a few problems, but the biggest complaint is that lack of service or care by Yakima. Here is what I ran into...1) Counter sunk holes for license bracket too small for screws provided. This caused a problem with the lice ...Read More nse plate light attaching correctly. Yakima sent me a new kit but it had the same problem. Duh Yakima! Fixed myself by enlarging the counter sinking of hole.2) Wiring for license light routed to the wrong side of the trailer. Fixed myself by pulling out the wiring, and fishing it to the correct (L) side of trailer so it can be connected to proper socket. Duh Yakima!3) Instructions for safety mast and what was provided for mounting it didn't coincide. Fixed myself but mast tends to fall over. Didn't bother with Yakima this time.4) The axle bolt has a head size that is not standard to any SAE or Metric size. The only wrench you can use is an adjustable one. Manual states you only will need 16, 18, 21, and 22 mm wrenches, but as an options can use an adjustable one. I found this out after I bought wrenches for putting the trailer together. Yakima didn't see this as a problem. Duh Yakima!Clearly their attention to quality control is failing. They stated their "integrity guy" didn't see any of this as a problem. I'd say their integrity guy doesn't have much Integrity. Trailer otherwise is nice, goes together well outside of the above issues. I had a hard time understanding what you could upgrade the 66 inch to and what wouldn't work. When looking at online sites and then reading through Yakima's site it became a bit clearer what you could use on the 66 inch versus 78. Many online sites are misstating about heavy duty shocks, bars, etc. I would have opt'd for the 66 instead of the 78 inch had it been clearer. Duh me I guess. Read Less

Yakima doesn't have much in the way of culture or shopping because it is mostly a f ...Read More arming/ranching town, but what makes it great is the amount of outdoor activities in the area.

Yakima is near the Columbia gorge, a huge canyon that cradles the Columbia River. Boating, kayaking, fishing and my personal favorite windsurfing can all be done on the river. In fact the Yakima area of the Columbia River is the windsurfing capital of the world! Constant winds from 30-50 mph push their way through the gorge 24 hours a day. It's amazing to experience.

Yakima itself is surrounded by desert and scrub brush. If you like horseback riding, camping or hiking Yakima is the place to go. Beautiful skies every day display a range of purple and red colors as the sun sets. Warm weather pretty much all year make Yakima a great place. If you love wine Yakima is the place to go. A little know secret, Yakima is actually the second largest area in the US for grape and wine production. Hundreds of vineyards surround the areas offer wine tastings and tours for those who interested. Read Less
